Earlier in August I sent out invitations to a select number of real estate investors to join me on a bus tour around Columbus Ohio. No, this isn't a sightseeing bus tour where tourists click pictures of statues and we talk about historic buildings. This is a real estate investor's "college on wheels".
If you didn't get an invitation, don't worry. I would have loved to take everyone (but there aren't enough buses for that many people... and the City of Columbus wouldn't appreciate that many buses in one place). So I sent the invitation to a small group of investors and the bus tour sold out unbelievably fast.
But just because you didn't get an invitation or couldn't make it, I wanted to blog about the bus tour to keep you informed, and to get you excited about future bus tours I might do, (If I ever do another one :) )and because I wanted to tell you about a LIFE CHANGING event that you can still participate in even if you can't make it to the bus tour.
What the bus tour students learned this weekend (I've included some tips for you, too!)
We're looking at properties around some secret locations in Columbus Ohio. We're checking out potential properties and I show everyone how I value those properties as a potential investment and how I determine whether or not an area of the city is a good place to invest. I reveal the factors that make up a good investment (and the factors that people think are important but really aren't). It's like having a front-row seat to my thought-process.
Bus tour participants also met people I'm doing business – including a title company, a property manager, and other key people on my virtual team – and they had a chance to network with each other to do even more deals. (Bonus tip for MarkEvansDM.com readers: As you build your team, always interview each potential team-member to discover how real estate investor "friendly" they are. You want people on your team who are interested in long-term, win-win relationships).
Bus tour participants also got an answer to a burning question that every investor asks themselves in their real estate business: "HOW DO I GET MONEY FOR MY DEALS???" On the tour, I reveal a number of ways that investors can get money for their deals (and even ways they can do deals without using money at all!). And, I also talked about a secret, little-known way to use money buried in IRA’s.
But that's not the only thing I did on the tour. The next part is CRAZY (and you can participate)...
If you haven't heard yet, I gave away a house this weekend… and you CAN get involved on this even if you're not on the bus tour.
Here's what's going on: In 2011, The Washington Post reported that there were 67,495 homeless veterans in the US. These brave people fought for our freedom and now they are living on park benches. So I want to give a hand-up to veterans. On the bus tour, I'm giving away a furnished house to one well-deserving veteran.
I partnered with Final Salute (a charitable organization that helps homeless veterans), as well as a number of other sponsors to buy, fix up, and furnish a home.
You can support the cause by donating money at HouseGiveaway.org. There are different levels of sponsorship. I encourage you to remember all the freedoms you enjoy as an American citizen and give generously to the people who bravely fought for those freedoms.
Even if you couldn't make it to the bus tour this weekend, please give to this worthy cause and watch online on Saturday.
Your friend and mentor,
Mark Evans DM,DN
