In my last blog post I talked about how we were taught (from a very early age) the myth that you had to show up and work hard to be successful. So people are surprised when they learn that I am on a 5 year 'round-the-world trip. (And as I write this, I'm currently in stunningly beautiful Southeast Asia). They wonder how I can run a business from here (or anywhere) – they almost find it hard to believe because most people were taught that you have to show up and work hard to be successful.
I'm here to tell you that it's not true. You DON'T have to show up. You DON'T have to work hard. I'm livin' it! I run my business from anywhere and you can do the same with your business.
Isn't this view SO MUCH BETTER than an office?
Here's how to do it:
First, figure out what you want to do.
People call me "The DM" because I'm a Deal Maker. I do deals in any investment that I think will put daily cash into my bank account without taking any effort for me to run. A lot of you reading this might be real estate investors (although some of my readers aspire to other types of daily income deals that don't have anything to do with real estate). Whatever the case, figure out what you want to do. And do it.
Second, figure out what needs to be done.
Simply make a list of the different tasks that need to be done to be successful at whatever you want to do. Real estate investors might list some of the following activities (although obviously this is just a sample list and not comprehensive)
- Post ads to find potential buyers daily.
- Build relationships with potential buyers daily
- Find deals daily
- Sign papers / close deals
Third, figure out how to have it done for you.
This sounds crazy to some people but it's entirely possible and it's absolutely essential if you want the time-freedom and money-freedom to do whatever you want in life. (And the good news is, it's easier than you think.)
So the real estate investor might list something like this.
- Post ads to find potential buyers – Outsource to guru.com
- Build relationships with potential buyers – Use automated email system and have an assistant who filters the serious buyers to you.
- Find deals – Outsource to guru.com /Use birddogs
- Sign papers – Use DocuSign for online signatures
See? It really can be easy once you start asking yourself the right questions.. We live in a time when all of these things are possible to do online (you don't need an office building or staff or even a telephone!) actually while I’m in Asia I don’t have any telephone as I use skype which is an online phone / chat system.
The fourth step is the most important step
The first three steps were super-easy and probably took you 5 minutes to do. (You probably already know what you want to do and what needs to be done. And if you click around on my blog for a half an hour, you should easily see how to have all this work done for you using systems or people.
But the fourth step is the hardest for most people: Do it! Yes, that's the fourth step. Implement it. Get out there and start doing it. Get it set up. Spend a couple of hours putting it all together…
… and you'll never have to work another day in your life, (well kind of… I run my business but I don't work – hopefully you understand the difference)
Success IS possible and it doesn't require you to show up and work hard forever. Look I’m not opposed to working hard but I want to work on things that have an end in sight. Many successful business owners have discovered this secret, and I’m doing it and I've just given you a simple 4 step process to do it yourself.
